Will Kookaburra Rubber Stamps Ever Rule the World?
“Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Merry, merry king of the bush is he
My guess is no.. but it is fun to see a stamp that is inspired by a new location in the world: Australia. I was in a Facebook group reading the conversations that were happenings. I ended up being part of a chat where the ladies were preparing for Australia Day. Australia Day is the official national day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, it marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Port Jackson, New South Wales, and raising of the Flag of Great Britain at that site by Governor Arthur Phillip.
One of the asked if anyone knew of a stamp that featured a Kookaburra, I offered to draw it out. They were like.. “yeah ok“. I love a good challenge… so that evening I drew up this adorable bird and emailed it to the requester. They were floored at my hand drawn bird! (I think he is kinda cute too) They created some samples for me and because of the exchange with this amazing group of ladies I am excited to announce I am working on an “Animals of Australia” set. For now you can pick up this adorable bird in our store.. but be sure to watch for more updates on this new stamp set.
